Re: how many amps?
It depends. Every cart will be different. Stock should be less than 70 or so amps. Maybe less. If I remember correctly. That doesn't mean you can use a controller that puts out a little over 70 amps. Amp surge at start up can pop a controller.

Re: how many amps?
im planning on putting 6-12v batteries linking them together to make 36v in my cart and they are deka 1131 series truck batteries and im trying to get an idea of how long it will run on a full charge .. will it be shorter, longer, or around the same as my 6-6v batteries i currently have?

Re: how many amps?
It will be shorter. Because the truck batteries will die shortly after you start using them this way

Re: how many amps?
I'm gonna say this one more time:
Golf carts REQUIRE golf cart batteries. Any other applications will give poor results. We all know 6 batteries are expensive, but that's what it costs to drive silently. |

Re: how many amps?
Truck and auto batteries aka starting or cranking batteries have very thin plates to deliver very quick high currents for cranking an engine. Problem is thin plate errode very quickly.
Deep cycle batteries have fewer and thicker plates that deliver lower currents which last longer. |
