Alltrax SR48500 setup
So, after the help of the other thread I got my 36V series golf cart back to life. However, I am having trouble setting up the controller.
with out ever trying to adjust anything, I tried to take the cart for a test drive. It is kind of hard to explain exactly what it was doing, but here is my best description of what it did. I would ease the accelerator and as soon as the solenoid engages it dang near broke my neck. However, once I got it out of the garage I hammered down and it barely moved, maybe .5 mph. Then as I let off the throttle it would gain speed and right before the solenoid dis-engaged it would lunge forward. I read the manual and it didn't give much insight to this issue. Messaged Scotty and he said it could be faulty pedal switch or needs programmed for my cart. So I hooked a computer to it with very little to 0 knowledge of what I was doing I just started playing with it. The best I could get it to do was have neck breaking take off, then as I push the accelerator more it looses torqe. Below is pictures of my settings. With it running I took it to my land even though it was having issues and used it to fill my deer feeder. I noticed it has no balls. My daughters power wheel atv was getting around better than I was. I almost got stuck because I could get over a little berm that my toddlers power wheel went right up. I also noticed I have no real improvement on speed the old top speed was 13 and yesterday I topped it out at 14.5. The short to my big problem is this- 1.Almost feels like the pedal is programmed backwords. 2. I can't get it to stop almost breaking my neck when I barely push the accelerator. 3. I have no torque. 4. I have no improvement in speed. [/url] |

Have you checked that the controller is set to the correct throttle type? When you push the throttle just far enough to make the solenoid click look at the LED on the controller and make sure it blinks green 4 times then goes solid green.

The only option I saw for throttle type was "High pedal disable", and I tried it checked and unchecked. |

Re: Alltrax SR48500 setup
Since You have the software loaded, there is no reason to count led blinks.
Unless you were on purpose trying to emulate an Internal Combustion Engine throttle behavior by programming it as a "Torque" Controller, Your curves (Speed and Torque) are backwards and it explains some of your symptoms. Load the Alltrax software and connect your laptop to your Controller using the USB cable. Go to "Tools" -> "Options" and put a check mark on "Edit Throttle Types". Go to the "Throttle Settings" Tab and make sure "EZGO ITS" is what is displayed in the drop-down for throttle type. On the same Tab, Reset the curves to "Standard". Click "Set" on the Left to save the changes to the Controller. Click on "Controller" -> "Clear Auto Calibration". Click "Set" on the Left to save the changes to the Controller. Drive the cart again and try to make a few runs where you press the pedal slowly all the way to Full throttle. You can then customize the throttle curve according to the results. |

That definately worked! The pedal feels normal! My next fire is that it still feels weak. It actually feels less powerful than it did with the old controller. It topped out at 13 mph on flat ground which is exactly how fast it was before. It dropped to 7 mph going up a small grade on the road in front of my house. Even a slight up tick in the road slows it down 1-2 mph. Yesterday when it was a pita to drive it went 8.5mph going up that hill and topped out at 14.5mph on flat ground. |

Fyi, this is on fully charged batteries that might be a month old. They started at 38.2v and dropped to 37.9v after about 6 times around my neighborhood (equal to around 1/2 mile per trip).

Re: Alltrax SR48500 setup
Now you need to reset throttle auto calibration so it can learn your correct throttle pedal range, it probably doesn't understand what zero, and full throttle is, because it tried to learn it with throttle readings it thought were crazy numbers (when the throttle type setting was wrong). The reset auto Cal is an option in one of the menus at the top of the PC software.
