Default Beast Cart Low Power/Speed

I have a Beast Cart, which is an Ezgo. I recently bought new batteries about 6 months ago and replaced the controller about 2 years ago to an Alltrax XCT48-500. Initially, my cart had “hiccups,” as my son called it,where the solenoid would engage and disengage when under a load. The cart would struggle to go up approx a 10 degree incline. I connected my laptop to the controller to monitor the controller while driving the cart and thru Alltrax’s customer service we were able to pin point a bad speed sensor. So I replaced the speed sensor and the hiccups are gone, but the cart still has low power. Prior to the help from alltrax and now, the Alltrax Toolkit monitor is indicating “low batteries.” I’ve also notice after about 10-20 mins of ride time, the battery indicator on the dash is down 2 bars. I’ve checked each battery and all 6 have about 8.3 volts. And the dealer I bought the batteries from, which is a custom cart builder, said the batteries are good. So I’m baffled to what is causing this issue. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Golf cart 101 here, but have you checked the water in the batteries?

What brand batteries are they and what's the date on them?

Is the voltage on them high enough for your charger to kick on?

Are you able to check the voltage on them yourself just to verify that they are good?

I've read a few times of people buying new batteries but having one bad off the shelf.

Hook up you DMM to each battery and test them under load. Drive up a hill and see if one or more batteries drop excessively going up that hill.

If it's a "Beast", probably went oversize on the tires. Rear tire height determines how many amps are going to be drawn from the battery pack for a given amount of throttle setting. This is further aggravated by climbing grades.

The batteries are made by Crown and the date on top is June 2018. As to your question about the voltage being high enough to kick on, I’m not sure how to check that. The voltage from the pack is showing 50.8 volts. And I’ve checked each one with the cart off and they all are reading about 8.36 volts but I’ve not tested each battery while under load.

That’s the only thing I’ve not done. I have checked the battery pack under load and it does drop a couple of volts. I will try again this evening.

I’ve owned this cart for 5-6 years and didn’t have any issues prior to purchasing these batteries. The tires are 25” and hasn’t been a problem with the setup I have. But since purchasing these batteries, I’ve noticed that they have been a lot weaker than the batteries I replaced.

You probably had higher A/H (Amp/Hour) capacity batteries before. With 25" tires, unless you alter the rear end gear ratio to reduce motor loading, you're going to need much higher A/H capacity batteries to carry the load that your Alltrax controller is going to TRY to deliver to the motor. With everything proper, you'll be dropping about 1 volt per 100 A/H drawn from your pack. If the cables are too small, or the batteries too low in capacity, you'll be dropping more. That can greatly affect how much performance you'll get. Compare ratings of the batteries you had vs what you now have. Did you follow proper new battery break-in procedures?

Proper new battery break in procedure??? That’s a new one to me; however, my cart isn’t driven hard, mainly used to just putt around with the kids.
