Can you charge the pack as soon as you are done riding or do you need to wait?

If you're gonna be parked 10 minutes or more (no real exact number) charge them.

During Summers, when I spent all day driving, any time I parked at my house or a neighbor's house, it was on charge.

Unless you want to measure the at-rest voltage after a test run or, as yurtle mentioned, know you'll be using cart again in the very near future, plug charger into it as soon as you are done riding.

----------
Along this same line, there is a process known as opportunity charging. Basically charging batteries whenever possible even when the cart will be used again before the batteries have enough time to be fully charged.

Can you do a partial charge? As in put them on charge for say a 1/2 hour (not reaching full charge) and then head out again?

Yep. The higher you can keep your SOC, the longer they will last, not only that day, but total life span.

Can you use a Lester automatic charger on these carts without having to change anything?

Can you upgrade a 36v charger to a 42v charger?

You cannot make a 36v charger into a 42v charger.

Can you downgrade a 48v? By changing the board?

If the board is a SCR type board, like DPI chargers, yes it's possible (if you can get the manufacturer to cooperate). Any charger that supports more than one battery mode could theoretically be changed. Also 48v models of the Delta-Q QuiQ can be set to 42v with a Algo (software) change. Older chargers like Lester ferro-resonant chargers can't be changed without some serious mods that no one here wants to do (cutting some of the transformer windings out, which has many drawbacks like reducing amp output, defeating it's UL rating, and possibly destroying the whole thing in the process).
