Default LED headlights too bright

Hey All

I just installed a DTW LED light kit on my aunt's 98 TXT. The headlights are way too bright. They'd be great in the woods, but in the retirement community she lives in, they blind all the oncoming traffic. I'ver adjusted the aim down, but they're still too bright. Is there a way to dim them?

In my experience all the led lights are to bright on these carts. You could try that spray tint in a can... may look tacky but it should let less light through.

It might be possible to wire them with high low beams

I bought a LED dimmer from eBay for a few bucks for my headlights - actually two fog lights. I only use it when I'm around people, and not while driving. If I can find it, I'll post make/model. I also used "stained glass" paint from a hobby store. You'd probably want to make sure it can take the heat.

Found it. I'm attaching eBay description and a pic.

I mounted mine behind the dash, and it's held up since July 2014.

Thanks yurtle. The lever has the mechanism for high and low beams and I read someplace that there are hi/lo headlights, but so far I've been unable to find them. This should solve the problem.

If I can figure out the wiring, I might be able to use that unit for low and bypass it for high beam.

I found a similar one on eBay for $5. Thanks

I've had mine wired up several different ways. I had a DPDT on, off, on toggle switch, and had halogen lights which I had wired in series for dim and parallel for bright. Then I bought two Mecos, which are way bright. I only dim them around bonfires, or at the lake listening to music and drinking beer.

The light, horn, turn signal switch on the column is set up for dim and bright. I'm hoping I can figure a way to use that to toggle between dim and bright. It would probably take some wiring loom surgery, but the OCD won't be satisfied until get the end result I want. Darn OCD.
