Default Marine Batteries

I am ready to put juice to my restoration project. Right now I don't want to go to expense of a full 6V pack. I was thinking about using three 12V marine batteries.
I understand that I would not have the storage capacity of a full 6V pack, but since my cart usage will be limited, I think it would work. Is this a viable option?

Most Marine batteries are hybid crosses between a cranking battery and a deep cycle battery. Very few are true deep cycle, so what that means is they will be shot within a year or two, not too mention you will have very little capacity using 3 - 12 volts.

It will work "to get it moving" but it won't work to run it any period of time. 12 volt marine batteries are not true deep cycle batteries. IMO not worth wasting your money if you have to replace them in 6 months.

i agree, wouldnt go buy them, but if you already have them on hand, yes they will make it "work" just wont run for long periods like 6 6s will!!!
