Re: suddenly stopped-2001 electric TXT 2+2 w/ PDS,
Put the PDS controller into diagnostic mode and listen for error codes.
Text at bottom of attached label tells you how to get into diagnostic mode. |

Re: suddenly stopped-2001 electric TXT 2+2 w/ PDS,
so put it in diagnostic mode after checking voltage on batteries, all are 6.4 av except one at 5.4, all terminals look good/tight. cells float all 5 balls on spec gravity tester, fluids full.
code only beeped 3 times- then nothing after pause. no codes detected? Maybe clean all terminals w/ baking soda paste- then recharge. ?? before starting this last round- tried moving forward/reverse- only shuddered and moved maybe few inches |

Re: suddenly stopped-2001 electric TXT 2+2 w/ PDS,
That one battery is shot. You can try hooking up a volt meter on that one and drive to see how low it drops, but 6 volts is dead. You are at 5.4 volts. That's zero percent SoC.
What do the others read 12 hours after a charge completes to two decimal places? Each, not average. What is the date stamp on the batteries? Are they all the same make/model? If they aren't too old, you may be able to find a used battery the same make/model/age as the dead one(s). |

Re: suddenly stopped-2001 electric TXT 2+2 w/ PDS,
I have it back on charger now- will check in the morning, each battery. all batteries same, at least 3-5 yrs old I think. I read about readings on controller plugs J1, J2, etc. I could try that to rule out wiring- but first the battery charge. When starting charge- charger went up to almost 10 volts, settled back to around 7 volts in less than 3 min.
thanks for advice- will check in tomorrow after charge. |

Re: suddenly stopped-2001 electric TXT 2+2 w/ PDS,
so charged overnite- total charge was 40.2v, individuals were 6.4 plus/minus .2
the suspected bad battery was 6.2 took off charger (had already shut off) tried to move- only shuttered but would not move f/r. tested suspect battery and read 5.4, all others were 6.2, total was 36.5 these are US Batteries- marked 12-15 time for new battery? can I mix brands? what about a sealed one w/ 5 others still original and good? thanks in advance for your knowledge. |

Re: suddenly stopped-2001 electric TXT 2+2 w/ PDS,
You can replace the bad one with a used battery, with same age, Amp-Hours, and ideally same make/model. It may give you another year before you have to replace all. You should connect a hand held digital multimeter across each battery and read the voltage while trying to go. The bad battery will probably drop WAY down while trying to go. If the others are OK and you don't want to replace all right now, go used.
I wouldn't mix and match other battery types. You'll have to look up the date code, to see how old they are. |
