Default 94 EzGo Won't Run

I have a 94 36v ezgo cart that hasn't driven in years. I know it has power because when I put it in reverse the cart makes a loud beeping sound, however when I push the gas pedal, nothing happens. I suspect that it's a bad solenoid, but I don't know much about golf carts so I really don't know what it could be. All connections are pretty clean and cart looks to be in pretty good condition. Please Help!

Your batteries are dead. Why hasn't it been driven for years? Did it work before it was neglected? Why do you suspect the solenoid?

Put it on charge and maybe you can get it charged enough to determine what is wrong, besides the batteries. You don't want to spend $700 on batteries only to find out the controller's shot. Does it have a controller or is it a resistor cart?

How does the reverse alarm work if the batteries are dead. It was at a vacation home and just has been sitting in a shed. It used to work but when I got it back out to drive it it wouldn't run. Charged the batteries and it still won't run. I suspect the solenoid because the car has power but still wont drive. This cart is a controller cart.

How many volts does the pack have? We need a numeric answer, not so many bars, or red/green. The backup buzzer/beeper requires next to no power. "Dead" batteries can still do light work like beep, but they're incapable of turning the motor to move nearly a thousand pounds. Batteries need to be charged every month at a minimum. Leaving them for years with no charge has caused irreparable damage, if old age alone didn't.

Have they been charged consistently since they were new? Was water level maintained with distilled water? So it used to run before being retired? Does the solenoid click?

When I push the gas pedal I hear a click, but it comes from the floor of the cart, not the solenoid.

Yes it used to run. We used it to drive around the neighborhood and stuff, but when I pulled it back out to drive it, it didn't run. I don't have the original charger anymore, so I used a car battery trickle charger to try to charge the batteries. How do I test the batteries for a numeric answer?

Borrow or buy a handheld digital multimeter. They're cheap at Walmart, Home Depot, Auto Zone, etc. I suspect if you connect the meter to pack positive and pack negative and try to go, the voltage will drop way down. It may even be too low to actuate the solenoid. An analog handheld volt meter will work as well. I just meant if you had something already on the cart that didn't give a number, it would be meaningless.

I'm assuming you have six 6 volt batteries. If so, how did you charge them? You can charge them two at a time on a 12 volt charger, but trying to charge all six at 12 volts won't work.

Yes I have six 6v batteries. I charged them 2 at a time on a 12v charger.

I don't know the minimum voltage to actuate a solenoid, but once you buy or borrow a meter, we'll know where you stand.
