Question Question on blue Veego 30 amp reducer

Hello,
I'm working on a 2008 EZGO TXT 36v, PDS, Sepex.
I'm adding a digital battery meter along with the reducer.
My question is what does the green switched positive do?
Does it just switch the meter off or the meter and the reducer?
I ran 2 new wires for the meter so I can go direct or use the switched wire.
I have the stock ignition switch with 2 posts.
I think I had it figured out last night but that was after a few brews to clear my head.
Also it looks like if wiring the meter direct you connect to the same two batteries that the charging port and controller ties to.

Mind telling us the make and model of each component? Think of the meter and the reducer as two separate devices, as one has no effect on the other, other than possibly having them both turn on with the key switch or a separate toggle switch.

The switched wire is used to apply battery pack voltage ( 36 volts) to to 12 volt
Reducer. In other words any 12 volt assesories connected to reducer will only work when switched(green in your case) wire is energized. Example if switched wire is connected to key switch, 12 volt accessories will only work with key on.
Voltmeter can or can not be connected to switched wire. Since it draws no battery voltage can stay on all the time.
Hope that helps😊

Reducer is Veego 30 amp sold by Carts Unlimited and meter is sold by them too.
Don't really see a brand on the meter.

The reducer does draw battery power to operate, it must be switch. This is done by interrupting the pack positive power to the reducer green wire

Sorry, I missed the model in the title.

I wasn't sure "what does the green switched positive do?" I didn't know if this was a wire from the reducer or the volt meter. Lotsa choices on eBay.

I think Cobra answered your questions, and ScottyB usually provides good wiring diagrams, which is why I assumed these were by someone else. But I'd switch the green wire, as it DOES draw power even when off.

So if I remove the existing power in from my ignition switch and run the green wire from reducer along with red wire from meter to that terminal turning the key will power up meter and reducer?

No, the keyswitch cannot handle full reducer input current. You would want a 30 Amp relay or solenoid powered from the keyswitch to control the reducer input from the battery pack.

No NO- we are talking about the built in on/off relay switch for the reducer, not the power input.

As Scotty is saying, the switch merely activates the reducer.

Also, the meter does draw current albeit small, and I'm sure it is lit. As such most people wire it to the "on" position of the key switch so it is not on all the time.
