Default RXV 8V Battery Tray Part #?

2012 RXV. I'll be making the change from 12V to 6-8V batteries. A search of this forum yields 3 part numbers for the new battery tray:

627889
627656
628617

Which is the correct choice?

This link shows the tray and other parts needed. https://shop.txtsv.com/vehicle/index...TRICAL-5.PDF/y

It's kind of confusing but it looks like 627656 is the only one available from the ezgo site.

Default RXV 8V Battery Tray Part #?

There are also 8 volt battery trays available from sellers on Amazon & eBay.

They are generally cheaper.

Look for a steel frame vs. an aluminum frame if you live in moist environment as aluminum corodes faster than steel rusts.

Also you'll need consider your battery cables. Change out your current cables for at least 4 Guage cables. 2 Guage or 0 Guage is generally better. As you know, 8 volt batteries deliver more current and can hold a charge longer than 12 volt batteries. You need the additional surface area of the larger diameter cables to deliver that power to the controller & motor.

Is one of the battery tray part numbers a "Kit" that includes the tie downs with the steel tray?

Also - in regards to replacement wires for the RXV 6x8v configuration - does anyone know what lengths i should be looking for? I see sets that have the following:
  • 1x9"
  • 4x10"
  • 1x12"
  • 3x24"
  • 4x48"

i went and took out my batteries in preparation for my conversion to 6x8v batteries and here are the measurements i came up with.

Battery Cables (6x8v batteries) -
  • 1x11" (short connection from battery 3 to battery 4)
  • 4x14" (all other batteries - long enough to route around BFS)

Others:
  • 1x28" (Red/Positive) Solenoid to Positive Battery Terminal
  • 1x24" (Black/Negative) Controller to Negative Battery Terminal
  • The lug on the controller side is Smaller than the battery post lug - picture included
  • 1x12" (Positive) Solenoid to Controller
  • The lug on the controller side is Smaller than the battery post lug - picture included

Ok, so beside the tray and cables, is there any other new parts (screws/bolts, retainers, hooks, etc.) required that will not transfer across to the 6 x 8V setup?

I ordered an aluminum tray off amazon and took it to local steel fabricator and had one replicated out of stainless steel. all you need is tray and cables. I have yet to put battery hold downs on mine and I have had for a year don't guess im ever going to get to it. I would get 4ga or 2ga cables

Get hold downs. A customer recently flipped his cart, he now knows the importance of hold downs. Battery ripped the terminals off and went flying out of the cart!

I ordered the tray and tie downs from countrycat.com.

E-Z-GO Battery Retainer - 1994-2016 Models - 612867 1x $5.99
E-Z-GO Battery Tie-Down Bolt - 1994-2016 Models - 01101G01 - 2x $4.21

Seemed like pretty good price for keeping the battery secure.

I also ordered the steel 8 battery tray from there as well.
E-Z-GO 6-8V BAT WLDMT TRAY, RXV - 627656 1x $130.02
