Amps rating
Any ideas how I can find out how many amps this switch will carry?
This was a hazzard switch on my TXT. I would like to use it as a disconnect switch for a 20 amp 36v -12v reducer |

Re: Amps rating
I can't help with the rating, but are you using it on the 12 volt side or the 36 volt side?

Re: Amps rating
Well, the 36v side should be 6.66-10 amp load at Max load. In that respect, the switch would likely be fine. The problem would be the initial inrush current, that's what will wear the switch out.

Re: Amps rating
I wasn't sure whether he was talking about the 20 amp side, but the low current, high(er) voltage side makes more sense.
How do you plan on using this? Opening and closing under load would be worst case. |

Re: Amps rating
I was hoping to use it to turn the 20 amp reduced on and off on the 36v side. The reduced I bought does not have the ability to turn on and off via the key switch

As to "ability to turn on and off via the key", that's what a relay's sole purpose in life is. Well, not limited to reducers. |

Re: Amps rating
Did you look closely with a magnifying glass or something? It might be stamped somewhere.

Re: Amps rating
Would you use a manual switch you can forget, or a relay you can't? They're like $5.

Re: Amps rating
If you have a local buggy store, possible. If you can Internet, definitely. A car or boat parts place probably won't have a 36 volt coil.
