Ezgo 36v pds delayed reverse
I have a cart at my shop that belongs to a friend of mine. It is a stock 36 volt PDS cart, approximately 2005 model. It doesn't want to go into reverse for awhile after turning the key on in the mornings. Always goes forward. If it is left in reverse the buzzer will eventually come on and it will operate normally till left overnight. Battery pack voltage is low but holding at 60 percent. They want to put in a new set of batteries, but not until the reverse issue is fixed. The cart is a farm cart and has been used as such, so overall condition of the cart is fair. It's close to not being worth a battery pack and possibly a controller, so throwing parts at it is not an option. On a side note, the buzzer is ticking a 1-2-3 1-2 pattern when it is nonoperational. Could be just feedback, but I don't know. Once it operates, I have driven it 30 to 40 minutes with no problems. Thanks for any advice !!

Re: Ezgo 36v pds delayed reverse
This should help.
I would say either the switch or controller. Double verify your error codes. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk |

Check the voltage on J1 pin 2 (with harness connected) when you have the switch in reverse. If you do not B+ voltage, replace the F/R switch. If you do have B+ voltage, check your solenoid for a welded condition. If the solenoid tests ok, it is most likely the control.

Re: Ezgo 36v pds delayed reverse
There is an extra 0.6V drop in the voltage that activates the solenoid when in reverse, so with the low battery voltage, it might be on the cusp of failure in forward also.
If not already done, bypass the reed switch (temporarily?), connect a charger and carefully see if solenoid will click in reverse while on charge (higher battery voltage). Also, R&R all the plugs on the controller and spray clean them. Might be a good idea to clean all the connections in the control circuit, there are a dozen or more between the battery and solenoid coil and each one is a potential trouble spot. |

Re: Ezgo 36v pds delayed reverse
Thanks for the help !!!! I was in the process of cleaning the connections when I posed the question on this board. Apparently one of the contacts I cleaned and put dielectric grease on was the culprit. All is well now. Thanks again !!!
