Default MPT 1000 bed dumps but cart does not run.

Greeting, I recently acquired a MPT 1000 electric EZ-GO from my prior workplace on a package deal. I know a little history about this cart. It was there when I started in 2009 and ran good. Since then it had problems on occasion. I believe the batteries were replaced and I replaced some of the battery cables as well. The solenoid was also replaced along with the wiring harness at some point. This cart ran about 6 days a week on the golf course sometimes pulling a light trailer. The cart started to have trouble when I worked there. The symptoms were it would run fine then it would just stop, beep a few times, then if you pressed the throttle it would start right up again. It did this randomly throughout the day a few times. Sometimes it wouldn't do it at all. I do not remember the flashing codes. IT seemed to be fine the last few months of the season without beeping. This cart died at one pont and would not restart after I left.

So now I have it and these are the symptoms. The cart will not move. The charger seems good and the batteries hold a charge well at 6.1 volts a piece (8 batteries by Trojan). The electric dump box goes right up and down with no hesitation. The key seems to have power to it but the lights do not turn on and the horn does not work. There is also a forward and reverse switch on the dash. There seems to be no power in Tow mode or RUN mode. The controller does not seem to have power going in or out. How can I test this to see if it is any good? What else to look for? Were these prior symptoms warning me of the controller failing?

I see there is updated kits sold on here. What would be a good option if my controller is dead? I mostly use it for work and I live on a hilly area.

Thanks for any help as I want to fix this ASAP.

Charger the batteries! 6.1V is less than 60% charged. (SoC chart attached)

It would help to know the year of the cart. See if you can find an ID tag with serial number and manuf. number. (last two digits of the Manuf.# is the year)

Be sure to put Run/Tow switch in Tow before disconnecting or connecting anything electrical (other than putting battery pack on charge)

Electric dump bed run on full battery pack voltage, lights and horn run on 12V, so the main battery pack was tapped for 12V (very bad idea), voltage reducer was used or a separate 12V was used.

What is the make/model of the controller? (I suspect it is a Curtis 1264)

Thanks for the reply. This cart has sat for some time after I left this job. Thank you for the battery chart. I see it states never discharge over 50%". This may have occurred from sitting but I will run a charge on them and see what we get. I know that these batteries were replaced at some point but I can not remember when. It may be quite a few years. How long should batteries like this last on average and what is a good replacement if needed?

I have not found an ID tag on the cart. It looks like one may have been inside the passenger glovebox at one time but is missing and two rivets remain. Is there any other location that a tag may be?

I believe the dump bed was factory wired and will double check that and the controller tonight. Where is the controller model # or serial number located?

Batteries typically last 3-5 year, depending on climate and how well they are maintained. Mine are going on 7 years and still running strong, but they were higher than standard capacity to start with and have been on float charge when cart isn't being driven.

Might be a tag on the frame under the front flap on the motor cover.

Controller has label on it, may have to take environmental cover off to see controller.
