Default Motor stuck on input shaft

I have a 2007 EZGO TXT Sepex. The motor went out on it last fall and now I'm going to replace it. When I went to remove it I found that it was stuck on the input shaft. I gently pried between the differential flange and the motor and was able to get the case assembly to slide off, but the armature remained stuck on the input shaft. Before I go and pry harder, I want to make sure I'm not missing something. Any help is appreciated.

They rust or weld themselves on pretty good sometimes. THis is why it is suggested to put some anti-seize compound on the shaft before you put the new motor on.
You want to be careful prying too much, the Aluminum transaxle housing will break. Ask me how I know.
Heat may release the beast. A hammer blow on the end sending it on further may break the rust bond. And worse case scenario - remove the rear end and drop it on one axle so the motor FALLS off. Watch out for your toes.

The spline coupler on the motor shaft is rusted onto the input shaft of the differential, which is held in place by a snap ring and if you pry too hard, you might damage the differential case or move the input shaft out of the bearings and gears that are press fit on that shaft.

Try some Kroil or similar penetrating oil and let set for a few hours to work.

Heat might work.

Tapping with hammer may help.

Wiggling armature up & down & side to side may help.

If all else fails, remove snap ring and pull input gear assembly. Considering the age of the cart, the input gear and bearings probably need to be replaced anyways.

I've hear several days of penetrating oil like mentioned above, but I've never had the patience. My motor fortunately came off as a whole, though not with out some pretty stiff pounding with wood/plastic/rubber/aluminum (can't remember) mallets.

Thanks for the suggestions. I applied some heat with a propane torch and was able to get it to pop loose. I will definitely be adding some never-seize when I install the new motor.

There's a small rubber bumper inside the motor splined end that you need to remove and reuse.

Hey yurtle I'm having the same issue, where the case is free. Where exactly did you apply the heat? I can see only about a half in to an inch of the shaft I'm assuming this is where you directed the heat?

If motor is stuck on real good watch this video:

This Waylon from Arc'em Garage in NC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUu0vas73U4

Armature always comes off when you do this. :)
