Txt/PDS No power out of controller
Ezgo txt/PDS
Curtis 1206mx controller 36v Cart won’t drive and I’ve been doing a lot of testing. Followed JohnnieB’s wiring diagram and see that j1 pin 1 (gray wire) is dead. I followed reed switch to controller and that is good (reed switch has already been bypassed before I got it). Gray wore on F/R is dead as expected as is yellow wire on solenoid. I’ve ordered a rebuilt controller to validate that is the problem but is there anything else I should check? Assuming there isn’t a hidden fuse on the controller somewhere. Pack voltage is 37.4 and the fuse off the batteries is good. Cart in run, key on, switch forward, charger disconnected. Controller: A1 36.9v B- 37.4 B+ 36.9 J1 pin 1 reads ground J1 pin 4 37.4v Solenoid: Right side 37.4 v Blue shows ground 37.1v Yellow wire shows ground 37.1 Red wire on left connected to b+ on controller I don’t hear the solenoid ever click. Al I hear is what sounds like the momentary switch under the throttle pedal. Keyswitch and f/r both show ground -36.9v Pack goes up to 38.1 when plugged into charger. Hopefully this is more useful info and points more clearly to a solenoid or controller issue. If solenoid May also be bad I’d like to get that ordered so I have both at same time. Re: Txt/PDS No power out of controller
Voltage on J1 Pin-4 has to go through Run/Tow switch to get to J1 Pin-1.
Check voltages at J3. All 4 pins ought to have pack voltage on them when in Run. |

Sorry for the delay, had to travel for work. All 4 pins have pack voltage on the ru/tow switch when in run. If it matters, in tow mode, pin 1 is pack. Orange is pack. White is ~8v lower and yellow is 1.5v I have the new controller on my counter. Just want to be sure I’m not going to smoke it when I install it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Txt/PDS No power out of controller
Update: I was doing some more testing and j1 pin 1 has no power (gray wire). According to johnnieb’s diagram, it should and it should carry power to the keyswitch and to the F/R switch but both are dead on my cart. I then decided to jump the gray wire on my key switch to the B+ and the cart works. Is there a fuse somewhere that I am missing? Or, if I carry 12v to that wire what would I hurt? It appears there is a broken connection between the B+ and that gray wire J1-pin1. I assume it’s inside the controller.
Any thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Txt/PDS No power out of controller
New controller is installed and works like a champ. Once again have power at the keyswitch and f/r switch. Talked to the place I bought the re-man unit from and he said j1 pin 1 is just jumpered internally and will either buy it from me or fix it and ship back which was a nice offer I thought.
Anyway, she’s running again. I’m going to take a ride around. Happy Thursday! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Txt/PDS No power out of controller
IF J1 pin1 is dead does that indicate a faulty controller?

Re: Txt/PDS No power out of controller
Not necessarily, could be a bad Run/Tow switch or a bad Reed switch or a broken wire to/from those switches.
Here's a drawing showing the voltage path from the battery pack to the solenoid coil. It goes in and out of the controller several times, so there are many possible failure points. Also a drawing showing where Pin-1 is on all five jacks. |
