Default New to me EzGo, battery questions

We were gifted an EzGo Txt that has an upgraded motor. We were told they took it from a 3hp to 8hp. We were told that something kept burning up in the past, but not exactly sure what. It is not running now, and he said it was the batteries. Obviously needs new batteries and cables, but we were wondering if maybe it needs more batteries or better cables? We are completely new to golf carts and hope to get it going soon. Any faq's or golf carts for dummies y'all could point me to would be great!

I would start by.cleaning up all battery terminals, then after a full charge, state pack voltage be it 36 or48 volt pack along with each individuals batteries voltage.
Then trouble shooting can begin.

Fully charged batteries, along with their voltage is most important .
Without this info any test are not possible
Also list year and model of cart😊

Wow. Those are pretty corroded. As Cobra,1 suggested, a good clean up and charge would be a good starting point. Check the electrolyte level on the batteries and if any plates are exposed (which is a BAD thing), then add distilled water (only) to just cover the exposed plates before charging.

Find attached a battery State of Charge chart for your reference.

When charged and allowed to sit (stabilize) for 24 hours, good batteries should be at a 100% state of charge as per the attached chart.

Also have a read of the following "Sticky": http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...e-posting.html

Here is another "Sticky" link on batteries that has some more feedback" http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...batteries.html
