could see there was some liquid on top of the batteries.
That liquid was sulfuric acid. When your batteries are vigorously reacting it gets blown out the vent holes. Is your cart and batteries both brand new because it shouldn't be acting like that. It could be that you have a bad battery or the charger has failed and not shutting off.

You shouldn't be seeing any signs of overflow/spilled electrolyte. The batteries may be over-filled. Read manufaccturer's recommendation for electrolyte level when adding distilled water. Never fill before charging, unless the plates are exposed. Always fill after charging. You may want to look into a chemical resistant mat below the batteries, as the acidic electrolyte - sulfuric acid and water - will etch your concrete floor. Some epoxies may be resistant.

Personally I would not charge batteries in my basement, connected garage ect. Without a dedicated exhaust fan to vent fumes. IMO 😊

I live in a private club with over 1500 private carts. This has been a huge issue here lately. Most have their detectors connected to their alarm system so the fire department comes automatically. There has been a recent large amount of club car onwards being purchased in here not sure if that is related or not but no cure has been found yet.
