Location of brake light relay on 2010 rxv

So now help me with the location of brake light relay on 2010 rxv. I believe I saw a schematic its behind dash, but I never know.

Under the cupholder are some thin sheetmetal 10mm nuts. Remove those, and lift the top of the cupholder assembly off of the the bottom part. The brake light relay is attached to the vertical plastic rail in the center, held in place with a christmas tree fastener. It has a red wire and a purple wire that connect to the relay coil tabs. The factory RXV accessory harness relay socket should be connected to it. If there is no relay socket, then it is likely not a factory accessory harness, and has been rigged up by someone in a different way.

So nothing is easy, right? I got my relay and there are no markings for the pins. So I placed it with the connection tab at the top and that should make 30 at the bottom, 85 and 86 left and right, and 87 at the top. (At least I hope.) The other day I install my dash so I don't have much room to go back in there. Just through the speaker and cup holder. Before I closed/installed my dash I ran some extra wires from the fuse panel, and bus bar up & under to just behind the speaker. That was for future use(s). I knew I had a horn on the way and that went in easy yesterday. Toot Toot.

So today I am after the relay. And I find no relay, but the 2 wires you mentioned. So I created 2 wires with a female and male connections. The female goes to the harness the male goes to the relay This give me the distance to get behind the speaker to make it easier. Or so I thought. The 1st wire went into the harness. After trouble with the 2nd one I zoomed my camera in there and the harness male appears it is crimped. Ouch! Should I splice it with the plastic clip on? Will That work? And then will I be able to use my Volt meter to help determine wires, or am I just headed to random testing?

Once I complete this my last piece to rebuild my project RXV is the LGT-052 License plate holder, light, 3rd brake. That will complete it being street ready.

Thank you to everyone that has help me so far, and those that will help me see completion. (completion = I have a very cool entire cart wrap being custom made that will take 2 weeks to get here. and I have some other minor things. I believe that's the same definition that you will see in Webster's dictionary under "Golf Cart Completion!")

Do not hook anything to those 2 wires other than a 24v relay, or you may find yourself controller shopping. That relay circut is driven by an output from the controller.

24V? I'm 2010 rxv old controller

Hmm, the older Danaher models.like yours might have used a 12v relay, can't recall. But I'm positive the 2012.5 and newer Curtis models used a 24v relay in that location (and the relay driver in the Curtis controller is dialed for 50% PWM of 48v pack voltage)

So in tracing my problem today I found 3 unused wires beside the brake pedal. Yellow, black, red.

And this may be my solution. I need an aftermarket brake switch. Brake switch 730.

Ghetto, but I suppose it might be what they do (Nivel was the source). Sure keep that crap as far away from those factory red and purple wires as possible.

Will do. Thank God for WD40. I couldn't get those two front screws to budge. A spray from WD40 and overnight they were lose. I'm hoping this will complete my brake light issue.

If it works, I'm 2 for 2 at not needing a relay.
