Default Upgrade to 48 volt ???

I’m currently running 3 twelve volt batteries in series (bought it that way). And I’ve upgraded the controller to a Alltrax 400 amp along with a HD Solenoid, HD F-N-R , and 2ga wiring. I’m not seeing the performance out of the controller over the stock one and I’m guessing that the 3 twelve volt batteries are not supplying enough amperage. So my question is instead of buying six 6 volt batteries could I just add one more 12 volt and run a 48 volt system? Will it hurt anything?

What batteries do you have, make, model, and exact date code. Solid 48 volts backed up by pounds of new lead will make you happy. Lithium even more so, but that's another topic.

"Will it hurt anything?" Just your wallet and the new battery, depending on your answer to the above.

Finally, what EXACT make/model controller, solenoid, motor do you have? And where did you purchase your HD FNR? In my book, only one is really HD. Mine is pushing 8 years.

And, since I assumed golf cart batteries, which you may not have, what is the SOC of each battery, 12 hours after charge completion? If you don't have golf cart batteries, less than a year old, with SOC of 12.74 volts, forget about buying another.

I guess you didn't read that I refuse to look at non-attached pics.

I'll try and figure them out, just this once.

Mañana.

I just glanced at them. Cranking batteries? Drive 'em 'til they die, then get some real batts. No wonder your performance sucks. That's like feeding a car watered down gasoline, with spark inhibitor, a clogged intake manifold, completely blocked exhausts, at an elevation of 10km, with sludge for lubrication, ....

They are, but notice no one can control the size. They have to cruise up/down/left/right.

Marine batteries make horrible golf cart batteries. Just because the description says "deep cycle" sure doesn't mean they are suitable for golf carts. Those batteries for sure can't keep up with the demands of the rest of your upgraded system. Your stock controller was probably already beating on those batteries to their limits.
