Default Funny results of customer attempted repairs on RXV

They're going to have to have everything replaced. I've never seen results as hilarious as the RXV I worked with today!

They installed a custom voltmeter, radio with satellite antenna, light kit and turn signal kit.

Blew every fuse on car, came in dead as in zero volts. Boosted the pack which tests ok now, so first task was assess and diagnosis. I was going to start by disconnecting main power and then their many accessories and attempt to find the short. Figured getting car running was top priority.

Well here's the fun part. With B+ and B- disconnected, I start undoing their negative connection to their headlights (which were hooked to the front middle battery. What happens is with negative headlight wire Off the terminal, the controller Powers up and does the twist test! With the B+ and - connection disconnected! How?

Pulling headlight knob also turns everything on. Of course cart won't run. The handheld works, shows quite a few bad ones like EM Brake Driver OC and Controller Overcurrent as active errors. Not history.

I figure they hacked into the harness. This is why customers even those who worked in TV repair shouldn't work on golf cars. But I'm still wondering how on Earth the cart powered up with B- and + disconnected and just pulling the headlight switch on. It was in tow mode too. They obviously need a controller and harness.

Codes:

Main contactor did not close
EM brake driver OC
Precharge failed
Throttle wiper
EM brake field missing
Controller Overcurrent

Under inputs I have

Key off
Foot input on and throttle 100% (no foot on pedal at all)
Forward off
Brake microswitch on
SOC 99%

You have to turn the car on with the headlight switch (or use left turn signal!)

These kinds of results are common when someone tries to hack accessories into the key switch wires and failed to put car into TOW. but one should never hack into the main wiring harness of an RXV

Same thing when I see high amp draw accessories (like a heater, or winch) on one 12v battery of a 4x 12v rxv. That's nothing but trouble.
