Can you clamp a meter on the pack and see how low the pack voltage drops when the cart is performing badly?

Scottyb I just went around the subdivision and it went from 39.5 to 35.9 estimate of about 1+ hour nonstop and about 6 inclines along the way and estimate of 500 pounds total with all riders included , I will have to get prongs with alligator clips now I just have the straight prongs with my meter and thanks for the reply

I believe that ScottyB's is on the right track with testing the batteries as your first step in evaluating your performance problem.

What is the make, model and age of your battery pack?

Is that 75 amps@ 20 minute rating? If so batteries are to small. Did you get batteries spec. For golf cart or just regular automotive type deep cycles.
37.2 is an undercharged battery pack.
I use hydrometer after batteries have been fully charged but not used for 10 hours. Same when taking voltage test.

Cobra,1 Last time I checked the charge and it was at 42.2 I got side tracked and it cut off and when I checked it was at 39.2 and now it is at 39 and I did not turn on the key or drove it also thru the charge process 4 of the batteries showed 7.00 and 2 showed 6.9 and now the ones that showed 7 is showing 6.5 and the ones that showed 6.9 is showing 6.4 should all 6 show the same all the time ??? seems like it is the batteries issue , any suggestions on what I should do next Thanks

The State of Charge of a lead acid battery can be determined by measuring the stabilized voltage after charging. The stabilized voltage can best be determine by fully charging the battery pack, disconnecting the charger and allowing battery pack voltage to stabilize for 24 hours.

You can measure the after charging voltage at several times after disconnecting the charger and you will slowly see the voltage decrease until it stabilizes. Some batteries take different times to stabilize. General guidance is after 12 to 24 hours. My batteries will take 48 hour to fully stabilize.

See the attached state of charge chart for more information. A fully charged and stabilized 6 volt battery should be at or above 6.37 volts. And a fully charged 36 volt pack should stabilize at or above 38.2 volts.

Record your battery voltages to 2 decimal places and let us know what you find.

Once you do that, you can then load test them as ScottyB suggest above.

What is the Amp Hour rating of your Duracell batteries (20 hour rate)? If it is not listed on the battery top, you should be able to find your model amp hour ratings online. Are these Duracell Golf Cart rated batteries?
