Default Second solenoid wall mounted actuated by switch that connects s1 with s2 on motor

Just got a 1984 ezgo...it has a second solenoid mounted under the driver seat on the wheel well that is actuated by a headlight switch. One post is wired to s1 on motor and the other is wired to s2....what is this for? I can't find any diagram that shows a second solenoid nor (with my limited understanding of electric motors) can I understand why you would put a jumper on s1 and s2.

It is known as "overdrive". It could increase top speed by a couple miles per hour. It works by way of field shunting, which weakens the fields strength against the armature. You should only activate it when at top speed. It greatly reduced low speed torque, and a increases motor heat if used at low speeds. Typically, they are activated by an extra switch at the end of the throttle linkage that only hits at full throttle.

Ok! And thank you...related question...how is it supposed to be wired?...currently I have from left to right looking at the face of solenoid large post wire to s2, small jumper wire from large left post to small left actuator post. Right small actuator post wired to one side of switch.the other side of switch is loose with a ring terminal which I assume goes to positive side of last battery ? And finally on right large post to s1 on motor...am I right?
