RXV Jerks in Tow Mode?

Hey, I did the 6 X 8V batteries conversion, went pretty smooth....But that darned accessory neg wire that runs the head lights and the brake lights. When connected to any neg terminal while the cart is in TOW Mode, it will do the Twist Test, complete, then will sometimes remain motionless or start jerking. I noticed it will do it especially after I step on the brake. It does NOT do this when that neg wire is disconnected, and the cart behaves normally while in RUN mode with wire connected.

Any ideas?

Factory lights? Doesn't sound like it.

I don't think they are factory lights, but the switch is turned off. It didn't do this last week with the 4 x 12V.

Depending on the light wire harness there may be a 12v accessory plug that isn't being used. If they don't get used the ends should be taped off. (As an example the RHOX advanced wire harness has one.) The switch doesn't turn off the 12v accessory plugs on the harness. So they are always live.

If they are shorting out on something they could create some bad situations.

Or you jostled the crusty wiring harness into revealing the corrosion issues affecting the encoder circuit.

Recently we had an RXV come in after someone tried to jump into the key switch to run lights, a radio, and lit speakers (EOL'd all three and more). Car would power up (but not run) just removing the negative cable for headlights from battery #2 while in TOW and with B+ main and B- main disconnected. Also did it if you pulled the headlight switch knob or used left turn signal.

If the harness has been hacked into, you will get similar 'weird ghosts' in an RXV. expect a new controller/harness
