Electric charging units
I have a 98 EZGO cart that has been sitting for a few months. The charging unit for whatever reason doesn't work. Does anyone know if there is a fuse inside that might have gone bad or maybe something else.

Re: Electric charging units
The charger will not engage unless the pack registers around 28vdc. It is a safety feature. If your pack is too low to allow a charge, you will need to bump the batteries in pairs with a 12v automotive charger. Another option is to use jumper cables to another cart in order to trick the charger into starting.

Re: Electric charging units
is it 28v or 32v, but, as gorno said, the charger will not engage and start to charge the pack unless a certain voltage is acquired to activate the charging system, charge the batts 2 at a time and when you get the charger to get your batts up to snuf, i would load test the whole pack, one at a time then the whole pack

Re: Electric charging units
I think we found the problem. We tested the charger on another cart and got neg results. As far as the 28v or 32v, I'm new at this and have no idea where to find that info. I was told it is a 36v cart with six batteries, after that I'm like the deer in headlights.

Re: Electric charging units
ceisen, what we mean when we mention 28v or 32v means is when you test the voltage of all the batteries, all 6 at a time. you get a total, MAYBE, 28v or 32v. or even better 36v
just saying that if the pack of batts dont add up to the proper voltage to engage the charger it will not charge |
