48v converter/reducer questions

I have a 2009 RXV and I think the prior owner must have removed the converter as there isn’t one. Electric lights were just hooked up to the first 12v battery. In fact I had no idea it even needed one.
From what I have read, the Motor Controller doesn’t like that at all, and maybe that attributed to the motor Controller failure.
Anyhow, any suggestions on a reducer or or any advice around it would be greatly appreciated

As suggested look on Scottie’s site.
Useing single battery opposed to reducer does’t hurt controler, it inhibits equal battery charging thus shortening battery life.
12 volt reducer is best option.

I agree, shouldn't hurt a Rxv controller, it will slow down, then stop (if the batteries are otherwise in reasonable health). And, even the RXVs that didnt have a DC converter from the factory didnt draw from battery #1 (it was battery #3), and the wires weren't long enough to reach battery #1, so they can't likely be factory lights.
