Default Uncommon Key Switch for 2017 EZGO RXV?

Hi guys, First post, new to the forum but have already got some great info on here, seems like a lot of good people here helping each other out. I got my first cart a couple weeks ago and Im absolutely loving it!

My question (first of many), is I have learned the newer RXVs (2015+) are very tricky w/ electronics, and I don't want to fry my controller. I really want to change out my ignition for one w/ an Uncommon key for security reasons. Can I simply flip the tow switch and switch the new ignition for the old one, or because its an RXV am I going to fry something by doing that?

I was looking at the one below:

https://www.jasonsgolfcarts.com/Unco...EaAj-UEALw_wcB

What do you guys think? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

If you want a Uncommon keyswitch that's totally safe & "plug & play" for your rxv, you need to order a ezgo 2five keyswitch.

Edit: the one in that link looks like it is a 2five keyswitch, notice the difference in the key handle...

That is a Red Hawk product. Will work but not EZGO.

Here is a link to a EZGO one.

I have the one that's linked to in post #1. Been in the cart for several months with no issues. Is there a potential problem with ones that aren't factory?

To the OP: install was easy. Plug n play. Switch to "tow" first. There is a youtube video also.

All rxv's get real expensive, real quick when modified by the uninformed.

I think all variations of that switch come from the same manufacturer, regardless of the vendor (it's not like Ezgo made that switch, and the same switch is also used in Garia carts). The problem would be trying to adapt other types of switches by cutting & splicing wires.

I also have the one from redhawk. 2010 RXV. They should paint the OFF FNR with glow in the dark paint.

Edit: Just a side note My 2five unique key operates my RXV unique key. But, the RXV will not operate the 2five. They have 2 different unique numbers. The 2five is from ezgo factory. The RXV is redhawk.

So just a follow up on these "unique" keys. I took my two cart in different direction the other day. Dropped the RXV off for a friend an took the 2five for warranty work. They both have a different unique #on them. I had both rxv keys and one 2five key. When I got to the dealer for the 2five service it was starting to rain so I quickly unloaded and parked. The service manager jumped in the 2five and took it around back. When I got home I notice I had both 2five keys at home. Apparently I put the rxv key in the 2five and it worked.

Today when I picked it up the service manager brought my cart around and said my key wasn't working. He started showing me my key vs his. But then stopped when I said you and I both drove ot with the key I gave you. It's really weird.

So did he make a new key with my #?

Do 2five dealers have a master key of some type?
