Default OK I need help running the battery math otherwise I'll make a costly mistake.

OK I need help running the math because I suck at this part. I know where I want to be but I need make sure the math is right so I can land on the moon, figuratively speaking of course...


I have an 2014 48v RXV that I want to convert to lithium. I'm looking at all the different contenders of lithium from leaf packs from Tech direct club to allied to relion and even trojan trillium. I have some things drawing on my cart and I need to make sure I have enough juice to do what I want to do without having to worry about looking at the SOC every second. I have recently swapped out my controller for the Navitas 600 amp and I have access to their dealer app to completely control it and boy does it fly. I'm doing about 35mph down the street. I want to be able to maintain that level of speed up and down the street without it dying on me. Currently my lead batteries are 15 months old only charging to about 80% and after a 2.2 mile ride at 35mph my soc shows about 69%. And with these lead batts I don't want it to fall below 50% so I'm looking at Li so I can discharge a whole battery I paid for without hurting it. I find it funny that they make you pay 800$ for lead but they frown on discharging them below 50% so in essence you r buying only 50% of a battery, lol

I need it to last at least 20-30 "true" miles per full charge without any worry of it dying on the road.I'm not using this for golf. I use it as a car in a small neighborhood. I don't care about the theoretical ranges you could achieve that the battery companies list before buying their battery. I need to get the truth from you all. I need to know what numbers in a battery I should be looking at and what size battery do I specifically need in my situation based on my factors below(ex: 110 AH batteries, 80 AH, etc) I'm trying to accomplish my goal and DON'T want to over pay for a 5000$ battery if a 3500$ Battery will do what I need...Here are some additional factors regarding my cart before you start providing answers...


  1. My sound system in the cart uses 25 amps which operates off a 48 ->12@30 amps voltage reducer
  2. I have attached a photo of what I currently have in terms of battery(4x12v)
  3. I have attached a photo of the RXV motor barcode you need spec info if that helps in figuring what I need
  4. I have a 1000 amp continuous solenoid
  5. All 2 gauge cabling all throughout
  6. Tire size operating at 35mph is 215/35/14
  7. If you need to see a screen shot of my navitas diagnostic data let me know.

I don't want to spend 2000+ only to find out I screwed up and my cart is dying on the street early. I'm mechanically inclined to fabricate/retrofit if needed however when it comes to calculating electricity/watts/Volts/amps I'm novice at best.If you can I'm open to hearing what Li Battery company to go with as well!

I’d look at the lithium section. I’d help you more but I’m not knowledgeable enough to not steer you wrong. I have a 7 module lead lithium pack in my txt. I actually haven’t tested the range but had it in my head it should be equivalent to a lead acid pack, maybe a bit more. A lot of guys run the 14 module packs. I want to say they were theoretically getting 30+ miles but there’s a lot of factors, including your wanting to go that far at 35 mph. That’s definitely going to take some juice, especially if you’re hammering down from a stop.
Again, I’d read the lithium forums or maybe one of the gurus will jump in soon. I’ll be interested to hear what you learn.

I have leaf lithium batteries, not lead lithium. Haha.

I forgot I had this, maybe it will give you some perspective. It’s been awhile since I looked at (obviously by my poor guess at range above) but if I remember correctly, it was done with an RXV. It says at the bottom, however, that the average was 16 mph. 35 is going to change that a lot.
Look up PingEye3. His name is Gary and he’s super knowledgeable. I think he’s built like 20 something packs now at his club and is always helping people here.
