Default Marathon rebuild

The royal mounted police arrived in my inbox today. Apparently there was some controversy about who own a thread. I never read THREATS so I couldn't say what is in it. But, the title is a very 8th grade like. "Please grow up." As a former NCAA Division one athlete, in multiple sports, I peaked at 6' 3". I hope my grow spurts are done. It would be awkward to reach 7' now that I'm in my 60s.

I wanted to do my rack 1st. Because I have no experience with that I decided on the rear drum brakes 1st. They went pretty smooth. The 1st side was slow since I hadn't work on drum brakes for nearly 35-40 years. I did need to reference my pictures, install diagrams, and the other side to get it right. I was initially scared about the 3 line points per shoe that required grease. But, the plate had a well defined area for them. The second side went quick.

For those experts who like to critique I did leave something out. When I finished the second side I spilled my brake cleaner drain pan, 98 cent Walmart rooster pan, all over my foot. So I didn't tighten the castle nut, and no pin was inserted. But I just wanted to clean up. And I'll be back under there to replace the brake cables, add a lift, change shocks, etc... I also had to fabricate, shorten clevis pins, for the cables.

I also went to harber freight for the 1st time. Picked up misc stuff.

Please pay no attention to the hammer in some of my photos. No brake parts were harmed while being replaced.

I really just wanted that cheap grinder for stripping paint.
Got my lift kit, and expect white shock boots later today. They claimed the boot can replace the rack boot. Will it be ok?
My new shocks won't be in for a while. That gives me time for the WD40 to do it's thing on those bolts! And grinding!

I did get my shock boots. It's too late today to get started.

I like them.

My 4" lift kit came with no instructions. It doesn't seem to confusing. I saw pictures to use for reference. In some pictures they replaced the shocks with a monroe shock that was 4" longer than OEM.

I've finished cleaning up the front end and I'm ready to lift soon.

Wondering if I should install rack before or after lift kit.

If they work properly their replacement priority will be low. You know maybe after I win the lottery priority will get bumped to low+.

I had to paint/clean some more under the hood. As I tinkered I realized white might not be the best choice for shock boots. The 1st one picked up dirt from my work gloves. Geez.

I really want them white. Thinking about red zip ties. I hope they clean nice with soap and water. Or maybe tire foam cleaner.

I know upgrades can be expensive. I have been buying and sitting on parts for the last year for my project. I picked up a really clean "91 Marathon few weeks ago for under $300 and started adding the stock piled parts.

I converted it to 48v and I installed a 1206-5201 48v TXT Freedom controller unlocked and a 5 hp Advance motor. only lifted mine 2 inches, still have the 8 inch steel rim'd tires. the ITS was the biggest challenge and I used the original F+R modified to use the micro switches instead of a toggle switch. also swapped out the differential carrier with a limited slip diff from an RXV.

the batteries wiped out my cash for now. I am saving money now for some 10" aluminum rims with tires. cart currently runs at 19-20 mph. I'm gonna post some pictures of it, once I offload them from my phone to laptop.
