Default SPEED upgrade on a 2020 EZ GO 48 volt Lithium Ion Cart

EZ Goers
Is it possible to upgrade the controller on a 2020 EZ GO 48 volt Lithium to improve speed / torque
Will any controller reprogramming void the 8 year battery warranty?
Anyway around this issue if I want to upgrade

If you are referring to the lithium RXV, you're out of luck. The late 19's on are going to require a controller swap with an earlier controller. E-Z-GO had Curtis hobble the new RXV controllers. Not worth the aluminum the heat sink is made of. We don't yet know if the hardware is compatible enough to be reflashed with an older OS/VCL. Until then avoid buying a new RXV that you might end up stuck with.

They can be reflashed to the previous version if one has the ability to reflash. The hardware is compatible...

But, yes, if the software were modified in any way, and ezgo/curtis noticed it for any reason, it would be eligible for "warranty void". Just how much & what parts of the cart's warranty could be voided is up to some debate. The "magnuson-moss act" limits the manufacturers "voiding magic wand" to the parts affected by your modifications, but one would be battling the manufacturer over what exactly that means.

That is a little frightening on a $12500 Cart. Thank you CGTech

The easy solution is to buy an older controller and swap it out. Factory vs factory from a different year. LOL

Ahh yes, it's the "ziptie trick" for electric rxv. (Ziptie trick is speed up your Yamaha gasser by wrapping governor spring with zip tie, so it can be clipped off before service, and the governor nut is exactly where the factory left it).

I have a 2020 RXV Elite Lithium 4.0 on order and should get it in a couple of weeks. Bob, does your comment, “they can be reflashed to the previous version”, mean that you would be able to make the necessary modifications to the 2020 RXV Elite to go faster? I was hoping you would be able to do this for me sometime when you were available. Thanks.

The new Elites can be programmed to about 25 mph with the correct street tires (not stock 18" tires), but not more than that. The older software would allow for speeds in excess of 30 with the same tires.

The problem for you is this, due to the lithium BMS, your controller has to be programmed in your cart. You cannot just mail it to him like typical rxv owners can.
