Smile voltage reducer

i have a ezgo rxv 48v and i was wondering how to wire a 30 amp voltage reducer. i also am wondering if there is a stock voltage reducer with the golf carts with head lights and tail lights. i have torn my golf cart apart looking for it and wondering how to wire the reducer. also where to mount it.

Best way to find it is to trace the light kit back to the power source.

Wiring a 30amp reducer isn't hard. You just wire the 48v to the 48v circut and the 12v to your accessories. The good reducers have a wire you can run to the key switch and they have a switched 12v circut as well.

The reducer (#3 Veego) is the one I use for all my installs. Wish I could get them in Canada for 65$ USD like ScottyB sells them for. They are 120$ USD here in Canada. :(

Cheers,
Impaled

Do not ever tap into the rxv keyswitch, unless buying a new controller sounds like a good time. I would wire the Positive 48v wire to the solenoid large post that goes from the solenoid to the controller B+. That will switch the converter on whenever the key is on (unless the cart sits on & untouched for more than 30 minutes).

Mine is wired like this.

48V + input from controller B+
48V - to pack -
12V + to fuse box
12V - to ground bar

Oh ya... RXV. On RXVs I put a toggle switch on the dash for the switched 12v circut of the Veego reducer. Not as convenient as a key switch install on say a TXT but, won't melt your controller.

As cgtech mentioned never splice anything on to the original wire harness on your RXV. Especially the charge meter port. Only use original OEM parts that are meant to plug into the original wire harness.
