Default What causes resistor control module to blow?

I keep burning up the resistor control module on my 2009 RXV I know the brake can cause it, is there anything else I can check? If I do a controller conversion (currently has a danaher), will that solve the issue? If it is the brake causing my issue can that damage the new converted controller?

Thanks in advance!

Curtis controllers don't even use a RCM, so yes, that would solve it. I have never seen a cart repeatedly blow RCM, wierd. Never once heard of a brake issue blowing RCM either, does your motor brake work correctly? Inside RCM is real simple, input wires, transistor controller chip, and a few big transistors. If you soak the old one in paint thinner for about a week, all the goop will fall right off, revealing the guts of it (since you have a spare bad one)

Thanks CG! I was hoping to hear from you. Had a faint burning smell and it quit. Towed it home, pulled off RCM wire, and it worked. Replaced it. Made 1 trip around the yard. Parked it, went back out to try it again an hour later and it was dead. Pulled of RCM wire and it worked again. I’m leaning towards controller. I do have an EE at work that repairs boards etc and I’m sure he could fix the RCM if he could access it. Do you feel it is Worth having the controller tested or just go with an upgrade since it’s a danaher? Where do you recommend buying the Curtis conversion kit at? Thanks again!

And yes. The motor brake does work correctly when the cart is working correctly.

I don't have a suggestion for where to get it. We are a ezgo dealer, so we just order the parts we need, including a new harness. We don't use kits. Your next question will likely be "so, what's the part numbers?", I don't know. Since it's not a kit, every bolt & bracket must be ordered.
