Default 48V Batteries, charger and plug upgrade-Suggestions?

Hey all,

Just ordered a new controller, solenoid, 2 Gauge wires and HD F/R from ScottyB. Plan is to upgrade my Medalist from 36-48V.

Well, the parts are installed, and of course my batteries died.
So, quicker than expected, I need to order Six 8V batteries. And a new charger. And plug adapter.

Question is: What is the best value? I have heard Costco sells batteries at a good cost. Also heard I want to go with Trojans (not at Costco). Any suggestions as to the best path to go?

Also, what charger is the best value? I have seen ones that are mounted/travel onboard, that you can plug in anywhere. Any thoughts on this? Would I need a plug adapter here? or is it best to buy a standard charger/plug adapter?

Lastly, where is the best place to buy said charger? Does ScottyB sell these items? Maybe local craigslist? Again, cost is a big factor-this hobby gets expensive quick! LOL

Thanks in advance,
Frank

Yes Frank a golf cart is just another mouth to feed.
Go with the best batteries you can afford. stay with the big 3, Trojan, US or Crown. Summit II is the charger everyone is talking about

Its not actually mandatory that you change the charge outlet on your cart for 48v, your current socket will handle 48v just fine. Just be sure to order your 48v charger with the plug type you currently have. That could save you over a hundred bucks you could put toward getting top-notch batteries.

Costco batteries do not have great reviews. I just got 6 years out of crown batteries but I could not find anyone in my immediate area with them so I went with trojans they have never let me down in the past in my other carts.

I have the Delta Q on board charger in both of my western carts and have been happy with it.
