Default Motor will not go in reverse

My EZGO cart 1998 electric with the drive control system, has a serious problem which I hope someone can help me with. The problem: The cart goes forward in forward and in reverse mode with an unusual alarm sound as well as the reverse alarm.

I removed the motor to check on a grinding sound which I thought was caused by a worn bearing in the motor. This went unconfirmed however after reassembly I have the above mentioned problem. All wiring has been checked and confirmed correct. I hope someone will have a suggestion as to the cause.

Reverse is handled by the controller.
Check the FNR micros for proper operation.
Check the orange wire from controller to micro.
May be a failing/failed controller.
If you need the diagram and troubleshooting guide shoot me your email via PM.

Good luck!

Thanks for your response. It looks like I will have to trouble shoot the controller. I would appreciate getting the troubleshooting guide.

The most pressing problem is electrical. I find it difficult to believe the controller would go bad just siting there as it was ok when the motor was removed and not ok when the motor was replaced but electronics can do weird things. Do you think the controller can be repaired or just replaced for about $600.

if there was nothing wrong with reverse before you took motor out i would suggest going over your work again to make sure you didn,t cross a cable on motor or pull a wire out or as mentioned spun one of the motor nuts........did you disconnect main power before taking motor off?.......................
