Default Looking for new tires without speed sacrifice

Hola,
I have a 42v ezgo txt with a EMP high speed motor, 500a alltrax controller, 2 gauge wiring, no lift but with a rear seat.

Currently running 205/60/10 tires which are basically 18x8x10. They are a street thread and have a actual height of about 17.5inches. My wheels are the common 10x7 inch Medusa machined style wheel- probably with a 3:4 offset
Cart can hit 28.5mph

I’m looking to give the cart different look even though it’s driven 100% on the street.

My new itch has me wanting to add some front and rear fender flares and then fill in the new space with wider tires or a wider tire plus wheel spacer combination. Ideally without loosing speed.

I’ve seen the Kendra Speed Racer 18x10x10 but they aren’t DOT approved (hesitatant to use in the road) and they seem heavy.

Open to suggestions on combinations to consider, thanks

Look at what GOLF CART TIRE SUPPLY has.....they have a lot of stuff, and they are a site sponsor as well. they have a section for 20" all terrain tires and a 20" tire will typically works in non-lifted carts! and actually, it will gain you a little speed going to a 20" tire.

Thanks! I have looked at their stuff.

I 100% have to stay with a 18 inch tire but I’m looking for a wider tire than 8inches that won’t change rolling resistance too much can cause my cart to slow down.

I’ve read a few thread where people change tires and based on the size, thread and PSI they actually loose speed

If anyone has specific numbers on that, it’s johnnieb, but I think it’s going to be very difficult to quantity exactly. He was just talking in a thread here recently about rolling resistance of the aggressive tread patterns, and is always mentioning lower pressure tires having a significant impact on speed. (I would guess torque too?) I’ll have to eat a couple of smart pills before he posts here, so I can try and follow some of it😂. Obviously a wider tire is going to have increased resistance too (ever notice how thin the tires are on a road bike vs a mountain bike?) I would think if you could calculate the surface area of a wider tire of the same pressure and tread design, you could calculate the increased resistance, but putting all of those factors together into an exact number is probably going to take a physics major.

The two biggies that affect Torque and speed (speed is actually the result of torque where rubber meets road vs mechanical load) are tire height and inflation pressure. Tire width and tread patterns are also factors, but of lesser impact.

I'm not familiar with FL laws governing golf carts, but I suspect DOT approved tires will be needed to maintain the street legal status.

Pick a tire that will fit in wheel wells without rubbing and whose maximum inflation pressure is 20 PSI or above and you most likely won't lose any speed.

I'm going to guess 19s will fit and increase speed by 5-6% BUT you need to look and measure before ordering. Also notice when it comes to wider tires clearance has to be maintained to things like suspension and on the Ezgo in particular, the plunging brake pedal rod.
I had one cart with 20s that could not turn left and brake, very inconvenient at times

ScottyB I can not find a single 19 inch tire? Any suggestions on brands of models?

So far I have narrowed down to three choices:

#1 is the Stinger 18x9x10 rated at 720lbs @22psi
https://www.golfcarttiresupply.com/s...its-all-carts/

#2 is this Unknown brand tire that is 18x9x10 and is rated at 1000lbs @ 20psi
https://www.golfcarttiresupply.com/1...its-all-carts/

#3 is the Excel Sahara Classic 18x9.5x10 and is rated at 780lbs @ 22psi
https://www.exceltireandwheel.com/sahara-classic.html

Any input on one of these three tires would be great, also interested if any of these tires run a little over 18inches since that would gain a few percentage increase in speed
