Default Rear seat: steel vs aluminum?

I just picked up a '16 RXV. I need to put a rear seat on it for the kids. I'm wanting a flip seat for versatility.

Any reason I should choose steel over aluminum, besides cost? I was leaning aluminum since it was lighter, and just less weight to carry around for battery life and suspension considerations. This is just a neighborhood cruiser.

Definitely using a site sponsor. Thanks for the help!

The "lighter" aluminum one has no big benefits I can think of. RXV already has a gear ratio so good, you'll not notice anything. Unless you didnt tell us about that big lift kit & big tires....(that's a whole different issue/story to deal with).

Nope, no plans on that either. At most maybe some larger wheels and tires down the line, but nothing bigger than the 20" tires that has been recommended on this site.

Be careful out there, rxv is sometimes known to pull wheelies with bigger dudes on the rear seat.

Just to follow up on this, in case anyone in the future is wondering the same thing I was thinking.

After talking to site sponsor, Jason's Golf Carts, I learned that there isn't much weight savings on aluminum because they have to use thicker metal to make it robust enough to stand up over time. There aren't that many aluminum ones out there, so they are more expensive, and not really necessary unless you're right by the ocean, and rust is an issue.

Put 2 fat dudes on your rear seat on rxv, you'll know. Hint: Do not attempt to steer while your front wheels are in the air, it wont work, but it will flip your cart when they come back down.

I really suggest not doing it, or ar least be sure to have someone video your mistake.
