Default 2000 EZGO PDS beeps & stops

I am new to the site so please be grant me some grace in posting for my first time.

My new to me, 2000 EZGO PDS cart (performance option 2) will beep multiple times and then come to a stop. This happens most times when going over a bump (or tar strip in the road)
Brake on and then the ignition off/on cycle and you can hear the solenoid when the throttle is depressed....the cart than runs normally again. Maybe for the rest of day and then again it might happen 5 minutes later.

When I got the cart I replaced all of the batteries and I have checked with a meter and everything is okay there.

Several people on here mentioned the reed valve(switch) and I did the by-pass thingy around that and that is not the issue.....still happened when it was by-passed

I did pull the speed sensor off the end of the motor and did notice that the cir-clip that holds the sensor in place was somewhat bent. The sensor could "rattle" between the inner-circlip and the outer bent circlip... I pulled that apart and cleaned everything.....replace the outer bent circle.... and that makes everything feel snug.

It does happen every 5 minutes now.....only every 10 minutes. Also sometimes it will just beep, seems like the engine does a hiccup and then carries on without missing a beat.

I also cleaned everything in the pedal box also.

I am at a loss for what to try next.... Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.....Bud

Below is a cut&paste from my post #4 in the above linked thread.

A PDS controller is essentially a Fly-by-Wire system and when the cart is traveling forward, or in reverse, six sets of switch contacts must be closed.
If the continuity through any of the six sets of contacts is lost, even for a split second, the controller applies full regenerative braking and beeps the beeper until the motor stops turning.

Any of the switches, the wires connecting them to the controller, the connector on those wires or the in-line connectors in those wires may be intermittent, causing an emergency shut-down.

You can put a PDS controller into the emergency shut-down mode by turning off the key while traveling, or by shifting the F/R rocker switch to neutral or all the way into the direction opposite the direction of travel.

------------
Inspect, clean and verify tightness of all control wire connectors on switches and in-line connectors.
If that doesn't solve the problem, it may be in one of the switches.

Attached are a schematic with control. wiring highlighted and a drawing showing the voltage paths for the control wiring through the PDS controller as well as a picture of a PDS controller with Pin-1 highlighted on all the jacks..

So thanks for the suggestions.....

I started out checking the connections and eventually pulled the key switch. It was "rattling" inside and when i put a continuity meter on the contacts and shook it there was a definite breaking in the switch continuity. For now I just jumpered the switch and just drove the cart for about 15 minutes without a single beep. Looks like this was the problem. I will order a new key switch and all will be good.

Thanks JohhnyB as your explanation was clear and easy to follow. I am a happy camper.

Glad I found this thread. Been having the same issue and also found it to be a faulty ignition switch. Testa fine till you knock on it, and would get a jump in Resistance. Thanks for the info to all involved.
