1990 Ezgo 36V Won't Charge
I have almost new batteries and cables and a new cable on the charger. The batteries are full of water and ready to go, but they are weak. The charger has been checked and works fine, but won't turn on when I plug it in.
I'm thinking that the only weak link left is the plug connector mounted on the cart is not working, but I'm not sure. Could I be right and if so, where can I get one online? |

Re: 1990 Ezgo 36V Won't Charge
1st we need a voltmeter reading on the pack. If the batteries are too low the charger can not see them and won't start? So what is the pack voltage?

Re: 1990 Ezgo 36V Won't Charge
All I have is a battery load tester and I've checked out each individually and they are showing 5.4 V + each! I can't test the pack load, but maybe I can get a hold of a voltmeter tomorrow!

Re: 1990 Ezgo 36V Won't Charge
with those readings it might be the low voltage sensor in charger......1st you need to get a 12 volt charger and charge 2 at a time to get voltage up.....if it still dosn,t work get a small file and clean the charger port and cord end where it plugs in and follow those 2 cables to the batts, and make sure connections are clean......................

Thanks! I was already thinking about doing a 12 volt charge to see if that's it.

Re: 1990 Ezgo 36V Won't Charge
Batteries are filled with a water filler. Sorry I wasn't clear! I'm charging with a manual charger now and when I'm done I'll retest my 36V charger connection!

Re: 1990 Ezgo 36V Won't Charge
Well, Thanks to all who helped.
It seems that when I took a 12V charger and put a charge on the batteries two at a time, the 36V charger went to working. I guess the batteries were so low the 36V would not kick in!!! She's all fully charged and running now. Thanks again! |
