EZ-Go electrical problem
Greetinga All,
I hope somebody can give me some pointers for my problem. My golf cart started going slower and slower and I just thought it needed to be charged. So on the way to the charging station, i decided to check the battery fluids....well they were bone dry..... I filled all 6 of them with distilled water and started charging, the charger ran all night and still didn't go off. I unplugged it and re-charged it and it seems to have charged the batteries as I read 37.6 volts across the last two posts. However, the cart will not work. The reverse buzzer will not even make a sound with the ignition key turned on and the switch put in reverse. Any ideas? Thank you in advance. Okie |

Re: EZ-Go electrical problem
You probably are reading a surface charge with your VM. What level did you fill the batteries to before charging them? ie: distance above plates, bottom of fill hole, etc...

Re: EZ-Go electrical problem
how much did you fill them? Sorry to say but, running the batteries dry WILL DO PERMENANT DAMAGE ..... ONly a load tester or hydrometer will tell. Also wait a few hrs and re- read the voltage. It may fall surprisingly....

Re: EZ-Go electrical problem
The batteries were dry(you could see the plates), so I filled them to the top of the fill hole, replaced the covers and plugged in the charger.

Re: EZ-Go electrical problem
To much water. Probably need to pull ALOT out....skim off the top until you get 1/4" or so above the plates, charge again and keep an eye on how long the charger is actually active (humming). You may also want to pick up a hydrometer and check for weak cells. there should less than a 50 point spread (place your bets, place your bets ) between cells.

Re: EZ-Go electrical problem
Is there some kind of switch, or fuse that could be blown?
I'm reading 37.7 volts, wouldn't I at least hear the reverse buzzer? Okie |

I didn't change any cables or anything. The charger is NOT currently connected.
