Solenoid swap out / now nothing...
Just finished my wiring upgrade to #2 welding cable... haven't done my 48v convert yet but that was gonna be later this afternoon... all wiring looked good... decided to go ahead and swap out the solenoid to the one i got from EV drives... a MZJ-200D... swapped wires over exactly like the stock one... decided to buzz it around the yard to see how much the cables improved the low end before I added the 2 additional batteries... Smelled electrical smell after hitting the gas... no movement forward or rearward... started pulling hot wire to battery and ground wire quick...
Decided to go back to the factory solenoid and now nothing.... the backup buzzer still works.... is there certain polarity for the solenoid? the stock one showed "BAT" on one side... the new one did not... |

Re: Solenoid swap out / now nothing...
Sounds like you didn't wire it right.....well I know you didn't wire it right or it would run and wires wouldn't be gettting hot. Get a MANUAL and double and tripple check your wiring. You have something mis-wired.
Its NOT the controller. |

All cables were swapped out one at a time.... the new solenoid showed no certain side for the "BAT" wire like the factory one.... no clicks no nothing... even with the factory one back on.... could I have got the controller?

Re: Solenoid swap out / now nothing...
does a solenoid have a certain top and bottom? or a left and right? like i said all cables were replaced one at the time.... the only issua can be the replacement solenoid... its says its rated for 48 volts but i'm still on 36.... that should'nt matter since its just a big switch... The new controller is definately where the smell came from.... but i'm getting nothing from the stock one either... looks like no power to the controller

Re: Solenoid swap out / now nothing...
The large terminals do not have a polarity......but I have seen some of the big dog contactors marked + and - on the small activation terminals????????

Re: Solenoid swap out / now nothing...
the diode between the two small posts has a red and black wire.... one side of the diode the wire is red... the other side is black... one complete wire... could this mean polarity? I tried to swap and still a no go.. I'm gonna put all stock parts back on tomorrow and see where I'm at... I hope i didn't fry my new controller tks for the help....

Re: Solenoid swap out / now nothing...
Diodes are semiconductors which allow electric current to flow in one direction and prevent it from flowing back.
All diodes have polarity, but unlike other components, the polarity marking is for the negative lead. |

Diodes DO have polarity if they are being used correct; The 'band' would be considered the indicator - prob is I dont know (yet) if this diode is used for protection etc. so not sure which way they install |
