Go with a Plum Quick motor upgrade and a 400 controller. While you are at it change cables to #4 guage. This would be least expensive and give decent speed

Torque and top-end should both improve. Check the difference in cost for the 400 vs 500 controller. Also, down the line, if you have to replace selinoid go for a heavy duty. Stock should be OK for now. Batteriy age is always an issue as well. If they are Trojans look on Neg pad, letter is month (starting with A) number is year of mfg. If another brand get the code and come back, someone can identify for you.

Don't waste money on anything but an Alltrax controller-Go on line to "Everything for Carts" great people and helpful. Quick turn around and no hassle return when necessary. They are a sponsor on the forum. I have just refurbished a 99 Ez-Go 36V cart-stock for seniors golf. I do one or two a year to stay busy, don't know if I make anything at it but have convinced a great wife that I have. She approves as it keeps me out of her way. My personal rig is a 2005 Gem Car. I'm just too old to do a lifted V-Twin gasser but I would love to do a wheelie in front of our clubhouse. Years past have raced everything from airplanes to unlimited hydros, now 78 and still don't like slow. Run while you can

Just checked on line-Skip Everything for carts for now-Call Plum quick @803-548-7205 they will do an exchange on your motor for $250/300 incl. shipping. Then Alltrax 541-476-3565 either of these are top people and won't steer you wrong or hose you with $$$.
