Woe is me and my rearend!!!

Welllll, I may have got the EZ-GO before the horse

. Having talked to the folks at EMP

and decided what I wanted done to my motor I decided to go ahead and try to quieten a whine in rearend. A mechanic

in maintenance at the golf course where I partime had ridden in my cart and told me I needed to fix the whine before I did anything. He told me to replace the input shaft assembly and that would take care of the whine

. Well, I did it and now it whines worse than it did

It's not as high a pitch as it was BUT it's pretty noisy.
Any of you guys had experience with this situation

. Now my source of infinite wisdom

tells me I need to pull axle assembly and change out all gears

.
Can gears be found elsewhere other than EZ- GO? I know it's going to be expensive

but whats a man to do?
Any ideas and/or advise sure would be comforting right about now.

Yep...gears are available. High speed golf cart gears

I would have checked the bearing in the motor before I tore the rear end apart. And if that wasn't the issue, just replace the input shaft bearings.

But Roady's gears are much more fun!!

Hard to imagine gears failing but anything could happen. I'd say its a bearing somewhere. Those gears are nearly bulletproof.

Thanks for the replies and info guys. I put the old output shaft back in beings how it wasn't as noisy

. I went ahead and updated to 4 ga. wire so I'll at least have that part done. I'm thick headed

so I guess I need to figure out which direction to go on this rearend before I do anything else

.
If anyone has an idea don't be afraid of insulting my intelegence or wreaking havoc on my ego. I'm open for suggestions

try taking all the oil out, and replace with half 10 w 30, and half lucas oil stabilizer......

sometimes it will eliminate those nasty noises...
