85 marathon contact arm lead
I just bought a 85 Ez-go marathon. I replaced the batteries and the wires.
The wires that go from the charger recpet need changed as well as the one that goes from the contact arm on the speed control to the solenoid. The one that goes to the contact arm has a large black knob that the wire goes thru. It does not seem to screw off or want o pull off. How do I change the wire? Also how do I change the charger wires? |

Re: 85 marathon contact arm lead
You probably have an Anderson SB50 charger plug. Buy the kit and crimp or solder the new terminals on the new cables and insert them into the SB50 until it clicks over the stainless tabs. Make certain to orient positive and negative correctly. The SB50 is marked and it is good practice to make the charger cables up in red and black.
The movable contact is a kit as well. Buy a new one and r/r with the old one. You'll have to remove the large nut on the wiper arm bracket and remove it from the board and the movable contact will come right out. I'm doing this from memory. I'll double check it when I get to my shop. I'm pretty sure I have an old speed board gathering dust. |

Re: 85 marathon contact arm lead
Found the old board. My last post is accurate but I left out that you have to remove the throttle linkage and you'll see the two large nuts and lock washer that hold the wiper arm and movable contact to the board. Remove those nuts and the bracket and bushing will come right off the board. You'll then see how the movable contact is held in by the wiper arm and spring tension.
Good luck! |

I'm all for supporting the local dealers but you might consider at least giving the BGW sponsors a shot at it as well. Without the sponsors you just might not have gotten this info for free! |
