Default Loses Power and Applies Break

I have a 2001 EZ-Go PDS. When my wife and I are riding around our neighborhood the cart randomly looses power even with the accelerator fully depressed and the engine break is applied. Also a series of continuous beeps start. In order to start again I have to fully release the pedal and then everything is fine again. What could cause this? A bad controller? I hate to replace a controller not knowing if that is the problem.

The beeps should be in a sequence. Refer to your controller environmental cover to convert the diagnostic codes the controller is throwing and see what it is.
Should be 1,2,3, or 4 beeps, pause, then 1,2,3, or 4 more beeps.

It's more like 12 continuous beeps with no pauses....

Drive the cart around in diagnostic mode until the controller throws the same codes again.

Don't mean to butt in. We have the same problem with some carts at the golf course. You drive along, it stalls, does 3 beeps and after completely stopping, will go again. When it stalls, it goes to regen braking and beeps like to indicate it's rolling witout the accelerator being pressed. We have'nt been able to get the diagnostic beeps for a problem...we have no clue. The EZ go guy cant' figure it out either. INTERMITANT.
That's all I had to add. just FYI. I'll listen now, thanks '02 36V

Have you tried isolating the controller by switching it out with a known good controller? Seems you have access so I'd be curious to see if you move the controller from a problem cart to another cart then if the problem follows the controller then would you not eliminate some questions and components?

Unfortunately I don't have access to a controller to try. My local repair store charges $189 for a refurbished one. I wish I could try that, then I would know if the controller was the problem for sure. I rode some yesterday in diagnostic mode, but the problem didn't happen. Sometimes it's frequent, other times it doesn't happen at all.

Yeah, didn't figure you did. Keep plugging away in diagnostic mode. I hear you about the $189 experiment.

He figured I did....and I do. As soon as I identify a specific cart with that problem I'll try it. Probably tomorrow, I think #3 is like that. I work every day.
I will let you all know asap. I'll experiment for you.
