Re: Help! changing Differential Fluid
I thought that all carts used 30 weight motor oil in the diff . I used 80/90 in a cart and the thing would hardly move in the winter; I thought i had weak batteries. Now I only use 30 wieght. Wait a little and someone with the wisdom will help you out.

Re: Help! changing Differential Fluid
You can use that oil in the diff.... get a tube of gas/oil resistant silicone. Drop the pan and clean it good apply silicone to gasket surface fill to top of drain plug with oil and carefully reinstall....... Genius on Ezgo's part.... you can't drain it and you can't fill it enough with the pan installed?

Re: Help! changing Differential Fluid
The SAE 30 is what a fellow member recommended to me. I haven't had a problem with it. Sounds like Scotty says you can use the 80/90 lube. He has way more knowledge than I do about carts; but in my opinion either one will work. I prefer the SAE 30 for the cold winters.

Re: Help! changing Differential Fluid
The axle housing assembly on my cart has a plug on the bottom of the pan about 1" up from the bottom and although you can't drain it, that is the fill plug. In order to drain the axle you must remove the pan.
The service manual (Page A-5) states that SAE 30 is the required lubricant. It also gives the inspection and refill procedure on Page Q-1. Our sponsor has kindly provided us with this technician's manual located at: http://www.eastcoastcarts.com/Manuals.aspx Sorry for the size, can't get it smaller. IMG Code |

Re: Help! changing Differential Fluid
I'm in N. Cal and I could see using heavier oil, especially synthetic for this climate too.
