Default 48v conv ?

With the help of all you guys I have my charger question figured out now I have a solenoid question can someone tell me what the second small wire is for my ultimate goal is to rewire the solenoid so only 36v run through the switching terminal but I cant figure out what that second small terminal is for .

you can use your 36v solenoid just the way it is... it will eventually fry though.... lol...

Your best bet would be using a 48v solenoid...... it would require less wiring..

but to directly answer your question one small terminal is keyed by 36v neg, the other 36 v pos, with your conversion it is now 48v.... you could hotwire one side to always be keyed, but you will still be passing 48v through the large terminals.... if you dont pass 48v through there, then you are not passing it to the controller, and likewise not to the motor.. so your entire upgrade would be a waste... the solenoid is kinda like a floodgate, if all the voltage doesnt go through, then it doesnt make it to the controller or motor...

You can find a 48v solenoid for a reasonable price.... if nothing else find the newer style club car solenoids and remove the attached diode if necessary.. but, ez-go should have a 48v solenoid, as they produce 48v solenoids for some of their larger vehicles...

its a resister cart as long as I can control the the voltage that goes to the small terminal the big ones wont have a problem but I appreciate the explanation .on a automotive application that second small terminal is not an igniter to the relay but a secondary output I can easily reduce the voltage but its not worth the modification being that the solenoid is reasonably priced its not that I am cheap its just that my cart is the second ugliest cart around ( caddymankc takes first place)

in that case, I think you can trace the positive small terminal back from the solenoid, and just move it back a couple batteries... I'm not at work, so I dont have a wiring diagram in front of me or I would try to come up with something.. If I get a chance tomorrow I will look at it...
