Default Updated to 4 ga. cable -QUESTION-

On my '98 EZ-GO TXT/ Non DCS/PDS I've upgraded to 4 ga. cable and was told I needed to "REMOVE DIODE BETWEEN SMALL TERMINALS ON SOLENOID".
Is this correct? I'm a little gun shy when it comes to electricity and I can't find anything in archives that sheds any light on this. Any of ya'll made this upgrade on this type system and removed this diode?
Any help and/or advise greatly appreciated. Don't worry about insulting my intellegence or lack there of. I'M NOT ONLY PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED BUT ELECTRICALLY CHALLENGED AS WELL!!
Thanks again,
Larry

Larry,

If ALL you did was upgrade the cables leave the diode installed. There is no electrical reason to remove it because you increased the wire size.

Where's my check?

Senor, yo no habla engles e no tengo dinero.
It has a Curtis 400 amp controller and a AU 2500 high speed motor. Does that make a difference?
Muchas gracias

Sounds like a Freedom model, but the logic still stands. Leave the diode installed. I am running an Alltrax AXE 4844 400amp and 48volts. My original solenoid is still in place since this spring when I did the 48v upgrade. The diode is still there also.

Who told you to remove it? Did they state the reason why?

Hastalaveesta! (7 years of French class down the drain!)

Gornoman, I bought some cables from that OTHER site for a 98' EZ-GO TXT (Non DCS/PDS). These were cables specified by them for my cart and the instructions/diagram said to "remove diode bewteen the two small posts". I wasn't sure about wheather or not I should SO, I called them and was told by a rep "yes, you're supposed to remove diode from small posts". It sounded like he was simply reading the same instructions/diagram that I and rather than giving an explanation as to why I should, he just said I should.
I was still leary and gun shy so that's when I started researching archives and asking around.
Thanks again gornoman you've been a big help Seems to me that you have tangible proof to back your suggestion so, I'll heed your advise.
