Re: Battery question
Sounds like all the batteries are bad and the low one is making it worse. Your pack voltage after charging and resting should be somewhere around 38.5v and the individual batteries should be 6.4v.
Time to break out the hydrometer and digital meter. I would charge them all individually and measure voltages after resting. Although the recommended procedure is replacing the complete pack, you may get away with replacing only 1 battery until it's time to replace all of them. |

Re: Battery question
Remember that you battery pack is only as good as the worst battery? Replacing one battery will let the charger ruin the new battery by over charging it. What is the age of your battery pack now?

Re: Battery question
The answer to this is always subjective. It depends on what your criteria is.
If you want batteries that will likely last 6 years or so with the longest runtime, the Trojans are the best. They run about $120 apiece ($720 a set). If you don't need the runtime, probably 10-15% less, Sam's Club has CG-2 batteries for about $72 apiece ($430 a set). They should last 4-5 years. Exides are priced in the middle ($105 apiece) with middle results. IMHO, all good batteries if they are maintained properly. |

Re: Battery question
One of the mechanics at the local Ryder shops told me I could replace my 6 -6volt batteries with 3 -12volt and didnt need to change anything on the cart is that possible?

Tell that mechanic to put the wrench down and step away from the golf cart

Once you establish that the cart runs on 3x12v batteries, get 6x6v golf cart batteries. Hell it might even work if you used 18 flashlight "D" cells.......for about 2 seconds. Sound ridiculous? That's an amplified comparison between starting batteries and golf cart batteries. On second thought I think I would go with ScottyB's advice: Quote:
