Default Newbie looking for tips

First of all, Hi all , since this is my first post.

Now, I am totally new to golf carts, in fact, I dont even own one currently, but have been looking around craigslist for one. I guess I am just looking for advise right now, is there anything I should know while looking for one? Any particular models or munufacturers to look for or stay away from? I have built a couple muscle cars over the years and have found building one from the ground up is always much more expensive but at least you know what you have, is that the same case with golf carts I assume? Thanks for any advise

Welcome to the forum. what are you planning for your cart. Is this going to be a golf only cart? A campground cart? A ripping bad *** cart? Your question has many answers depending on where you want to end up.

A campground toy to start with, but as with most toys, I am sure I will want to do some modifications once I learn more about these and what mods are available. Likely lights, lift kit and wheels for sure.

Any of the carts are good makes. I would stay with the "BIG THREE" YAMAHA, E-Z-GO, OR CLUB CAR!

Are any of the big 3 particually easier or cheaper to work on? Here is a pic of one I have been emailing a guy on, All he knows is its a 94 ezgo, needs batteries and charger. Anyone care to suggest a dollar amout it might be worth?

I know 3 car batteries are not suppose to be used, but could you temporarily hook them up just to test drive it and verify it does work?

Hey, I resent that.
My stock 42v Western will outrun any stock YAMAHA, E-Z-GO, OR CLUB CAR.

Yes it will work for a short time. Good enough to test it out.
6 batts will be about $450-$650 depending on brand. And a charger is not cheap either. Used $50-$200 new $250-$450. So add it up and see what your willing to pay from that point.
