Default My cart really bogs down over grass, fixes?

I have a '92 Marathon, all stock components, 36 volt with solid state controller. I have newer batts that charge to 100%. I have to drive over lots of grass on my property and this cart slows to a crawl. When I hit the concrete driveway it takes off. Here is a list in order of how I was going to tackle my problem. Those of you that have upgraded parts could you tell me if these things will help me or just a waste of money? Is there something cheap I could try first?
1. Lift kit
2. Larger (offroad) tires
3. New brushes for the motor
4. 4 gauge wires
If absolutely necessary then:
5. Upgraded gears for more torque
6. Upgraded controller
7. Upgraded motor

THose things on the list go all over the map...
First you need to figure out WHY it slows on the grass. Is it because you do not have power to turn the wheels? Or is it because the wheels are slipping? Is it because the old Lowrider Marathon is dragging it's arse on the ground? When we figure out why we can find the correct solution without throwing money at it
Are the brakes dragging? These carts are heavy. Is it sinking in the too wet lawn? Do the tires spin?

The tires are not spinning. The grass is cut so the bottom is not touching. The brakes are not dragging. The cart goes about 15 mph on the road. The cart is heavy and sinking into the turf very slightly. Not sinking in enough to make tracks in the grass or anything like that. The motor is stock so the power/torque is minimal if best. Has anyone changed out brushes and seen an improvement in torque? What about heavier gauge wires? Would offroad/turf tires decrease the resistance on the grass or increase torque? The stock tires are small diameter and with good tread but have a flat shape. Some of the turf tires have a "u" shape touching the ground and might therefore decrease the resistance while driving through grass.

4ga cables is the first place I'd start, they will help with the high current demand in the wet grass. Whatever you do you will need those anyway.
