Default electric ez go battery charger

I have an Ez Go cart 1988 mdl with 3 yr old batteries. I cannot get the charger to come on. The charger has no DC voltage at the plug-in when turned on. I have a lung problem that keeps me from walking too far, so I need to find out how to repair the charger. I have tested the fuse, the timer, yhe diodes, and the plug in wires with my volt/ohm meter and they all show to be good. Could the condensor are circut board be deffective? How can I test These?

Thanks,
James

The charger won't come on unless the batteries have at least 28 volts (somewere around that voltage) The charger WILL NOT have any voltage at the plug while it is disconnected from the cart. It's a safety feature. If your batteries are low you can charge 2 at a time with a 12 volt automotive charger to bring each one up enough for the cart charger to take over.. The charger has to sense voltage to come on. I don't know how many chargers I have came across that were given to me because the owner thought they were bad...when in fact they were fine.

This is assuming your pack is WAY BELOW what they should be.

Rody'

I used my automotive charger to charge the batteries like you said, and the voltmeter shows a total of 40 volts when tested.
What is the next step. I have the cover off the charger.

Thanks'
James

Most of the time the relay on the PC board is bad. Most people jump the 2 wires going to the relay to test if its bad. If the charger comes on and has output the board is bad. There is 120VAC running through those wires so use your best judgement and do at your own risk....I'm just sayin what "most people" do to test.

I jumped the wires on the relay and the charger came on and has output!!!!

Where do I find a replacement board, or can the old one by reparied?

Thanks for your help a whole bunch. I need my cart to get around my property as I am not able to walk too far because of lung cancer(it's under control as of the moment) I just have a problem breathing whenI walk too far.
